Inside Otonomee: What our people told us
At Otonomee, culture is built intentionally. As a remote-first company, we’ve always known that creating a strong, connected culture requires deliberate effort from day one. It must be designed, nurtured, and continuously evolved. That’s why listening to our people is so important. Our annual employee survey ensures we hear all voices across our global team, helping us consistently improve how we work, support each other, and deliver for our partners.
With a 72% response rate, the results give us a meaningful and representative view of life at Otonomee today.
The headline is clear: our people feel supported, trusted, and connected.
Scores across key areas such as wellbeing (8.4), teamwork and collaboration (8.7), and clarity of role expectations (8.9) indicate that strong foundations are in place. Our team members feel comfortable being themselves (8.5), discussing wellbeing with their managers (8.5), and see their contribution to the company’s success clearly (8.6). These scores reflect a culture where openness, trust, and shared purpose are part of everyday experience.
Our remote-first model continues to empower people in meaningful ways. Autonomy—one of our core values—scored highly at 8.6, alongside strong results for managers valuing ideas (8.6) and fostering inclusive, diverse perspectives (8.6).
Team members also recognize Otonomee’s commitment to diversity and inclusion (8.8) and sustainability (8.4), B Corp-aligned values reinforcing that impact goes beyond the work itself.
Just as importantly, 86% of our team members see themselves continuing with Otonomee in the year ahead—an important indicator of both engagement and long-term confidence.
At the same time, the survey highlights clear opportunities for growth. Areas such as career development (7.5), learning and growth (7.8), show us where we can do more. These insights are invaluable. They help us focus our efforts where they matter most: ensuring that as we grow, we continue to invest in our people’s development, progression, and overall experience.
What stands out most is how closely our culture aligns with our core values. “Do Great Work” (8.6), “Be Curious” (8.2), and “Build Personal Connection” (8.0) are built in and being lived day to day. Our teams understand the collective responsibility behind delivering for our clients, and they do so with a strong sense of ownership and collaboration.
We can never stand still when it comes to employee experience. We are always listening to our team members and trying to understand where we can support their experience at Otonomee.
So what steps are we taking to continue to improve?
First and foremost, we are putting a major focus on everyone owning their own personal and professional journeys with our support, which we believe is critical. To that end, we have rolled out an internal development program to support new onboarding for our manager group. This includes self-learning, instructor-led training, mentoring, and feedback.
Furthermore, we are working with an external provider to support us in Leadership Development so we can remind ourselves of what great looks like and how we can embed this across all roles.
Finally, we have started the implementation of a new Learning Management System (LMS) where we can create more visible paths and allow each team member more autonomy over their growth and their learning.
This is what progress looks like: celebrating what’s working, while being honest about where we can improve. We’re proud of the remote-first culture we’re building together—and even more motivated to keep evolving it.
